- Title
-
- Fitted coat with four triple-flapped pockets.
- Description
-
- Includes small sketch of back of garment. "Drop shoulders" have the sleeves attached to an extension of the shoulder as well as the body of the garment. "Shirring" is a gathering of material for its textured effect.
- A motif of "threes" is not only seen in the pocket flaps, but also in the three groups of three buttons down the coat's front. Could the pockets be meant to suggest a fast,"sporty" look inspired by air vents in racing car hoods?
- Printed on image: "Drop shoulder with shirring beneath for softness. Triple flap pockets." "designed by Pearl Alexander" "ANDRE' 570 - 7th Ave. New York City[.] Feb. 3, 1941"
